Meet the Staff

Allison Heishman (Artistic Director) is a director and educator who has been a part of the Philadelphia artistic community since 2003.  With Azuka Theatre (former Associate Artistic Director): Ready, Steady, Yeti, Go (NNPN Rolling World Premiere), The Arsonists (NNPN Rolling World Premiere), Local Girls (WP), The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence, Skin & Bone (WP), Failure: A Love Story, Hazard County, the terrible girls (WP), Azuka One Acts. Other credits: Tartuffe (Commonwealth Classic), Macbeth (Revolution Shakespeare), Rabbit Hole, Eurydice (Ruhl, Arcadia University), No Reservations (PNAA Productions, WP), Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll (Plays & Players), Pinkalicious, the musical (Walnut Street Theater, Kids’ Series), A Respectable Widow Takes to Vulgarity, Spacewang (Tiny Dynamite, A Play A Pie A Pint, Barnes Foundation). Heishman was the Assistant Director under Blanka Zizka for the Wilma Theater’s productions of Angels in America, parts I and II. She has written and directed for Theatre Programs at the National Constitution Center, where she is the director of Living News, a fast-paced show geared towards middle and high school students that discusses current events and the Constitution. Senior Lecturer at the University of the Arts and Rowan University. Proud alumna of Washington College, Chestertown, MD. 2017 nominee for the F. Otto Haas Barrymore Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist.  www.allisonheishman.org

Jarrod Markman (Associate Artistic Director) is a Philadelphia based arts-administrator, director and connector. He recently directed the Barrymore-nominated, world-premiere production of TIME IS ON OUR SIDE by R. Eric Thomas, and Hir by Taylor Mac.. In addition to Simpatico he serves as the Fringe Festival Coordinator for FringeArts and the Executive Director of DVAA. He is a graduate of the University of The Arts.

 Alexandra Espinoza (Community Engagement Director) is a theatre artist whose work aims to connect creative power to community voices. Performance credits include Peaceable Kingdom (Orbiter 3), Now More Than Ever (Philly Fringe) and the upcoming Boycott Esther(Azuka Theatre). As a dramaturg, Alexandra practices dramaturgy as community engagement and served as the inaugural "communiturg" on Simpatico's production of Red Bike. Additional dramaturgy and directing credits include work with Azuka Theatre, Inis Nua Theatre, the National Constitution Center, and PlayPenn. As a playwright, she is a first year member of the Foundry at PlayPenn and her work has been produced by Juniper Productions. In addition to her community engagement work with Simpatico, Alexandra is a resident teaching artist with Philadelphia Young Playwrights and a proud member of Villanova's MA in Theatre, Class of 2018.

Sisi Wright (General Manager) is an artist, arts administrator, educator and advocate for art and its capacity to facilitate empathy.  Fueled by a love of supporting fellow artists and a desire to contribute to the development of the relationships between and opportunities for theatremakers in the Greater Philadelphia community, she comes to Simpatico Theatre with an open heart and eager attitude!  She values the collaborative nature of theatre and Simpatico's commitment to deeply engaging the Philadelphia community in the art that the theatre company develops.   

Concurrently, she is the Business & IT Associate at The Wilma Theater and the Membership and Engagement Lead at Directors Gathering.  Sisi holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Sweet Briar College as well as an M.A. in Theatre and Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Villanova University.
